Visual Thinking Strategies Professional Development - Instructor
Scholastic Academy - Yonkers, NY, 2010
Created a Professional Development workshop for elementary and middle school teachers based on Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS). The teachers were given hands on experience on how they could use VTS in their classroom to promote creativity and boost writing skills.
During the workshop, we discussed "what we see," "what do you think is happening," and "what makes you say that" when viewing two works of art. The teachers were then asked to make a list of things they saw in the images and then to create a story about one of the artworks. Afterwards, they were invited to create their own work of art based on what they viewed.
