Bio
I grew up in North Woodmere, New York and went to the Hewlett-Woodmere Public Schools. I have always known that I wanted to be an art teacher ever since elementary school. I was inspired by my Ogden Elementary school art teacher, Ms. Rose, along with my Mom, who is an incredible woman and educator of 35 some odd years. My Mom, shared with me her passion for art and her love of children from early on. As a teacher, she was compassionate but firm, knowledgable, with the ability to share that knowledge with others. I aspire to be as influential as she was and am so happy to have combined my love of art and children in my career.
I studied Art Education at Syracuse University and minored in Illustration, after I saw Murry Tinkleman's presentation on "Major Day". I got my Masters at New York University where I was able to study Art and Psychology with a focus in Education through the Gallatin School of Individualized Study. I have now taught art to all grade levels, starting out in Yonkers, NY at the Scholastic Academy of Academic Excellence where I taught Art to grades Pre-K through 8th grade. I am now currently teaching Art at Hempstead High School in Hempstead, NY where I am excited to re-introduce the Portfolio class to the school along with my Studio Art and Digital Photography classes. I am also the incredibly proud advisor to The Tiger's Roar, the Hempstead High School student newspaper; The Paw Print, the Hempstead High School literary magazine, which I was happy to start up again and to the class of 2016.
I currently live in Bellmore, NY with my husband, Lee, our English Bulldog, Wilson and our newest edition, our beautiful baby girl Harper Shea.
